Adult Continuing Education
The GCCSA Adult Education team partners with other educational entities, offering customers a variety of educational opportunities that will support their pursuit of economic independence.
The Agency has had fruitful partnerships over the years to provide programs that would best serve our customers, meeting them where they are in life. Past programs include the General Office Support Specialist course (GOSS) where we partnered with Houston Community College to provide certification, job readiness, and job placement assistance for adult students interested in a career in office support. GCCSA also previously offered GED courses in order for students to obtain their Certificate of High School Equivalency. Students have one-on-one instruction with staff who are dedicated to helping students improve their basic skills and obtain high school credentials.
Scholarships are available to qualified candidates pursuing continuing education certifications for career advancement.
Scholarships may cover tuition, books, uniforms, and other related fees.
City of Houston Re-Entry Network Program (CRNP)
GCCSA has a long-standing partnership with the City of Houston’s re-entry program, located at Kashmere Multi-Service Center.
The Re-Entry Program at Kashmere affords students the chance to earn their High School Equivalency Diploma within 6- to 9 months. The CNRP is 4-weeks of classroom participation, which includes practice exams, resume and cover letter writing, professional development, and lessons covering the subject matter the HSED tests.
Collaborating with the City opens student access to GCCSA community services. Each student is assigned a counselor who conducts a behavioral health assessment to determine the level of needs. Students have access to various social services, including behavioral and mental health, medical, GCCSA Food Pantry, and referrals for the Harris Health Gold Card and SNAP.
