The virtual public hearing will cover the proposed 2021 Community Services Block Grant spending plan.
The Community Services Block Grant program supports activities that help eligible low-income individuals and families remove obstacles and solve problems that block self-sufficiency. A range of services is made available to assist participants with obtaining an education, training, employment, transportation, proper nutrition, adequate housing, and referrals to partner agencies.
The plan outlines eligibility requirements and activities to be implemented for the targeted population and residents of Harris County are invited. The hearing is an opportunity for citizens to ask questions and offer comments for the proposed 2021 program plan.
Community Action is the nation’s only comprehensive poverty-fighting program. Nationally, there are over 1,000 other anti-poverty Community Action organizations in communities large and small. As Harris County’s Community Action Agency, the Gulf Coast Community Services Association, Inc. is dedicated to providing opportunity and economic advancement to vulnerable populations.
