Early Head Start serves eligible pregnant women, infants and toddlers, ages 6 weeks to 30 months. Located at Fifth Ward’s historic Julia C. Hester House, the center provides services of education, family involvement, health, and family literacy.

Our computer classes provide two course options. The Basics focuses on how to use and maintain a personal computer and printer, while the second option, Business Applications gives instruction on Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word and PowerPoint.
GED and ABE provides one-on-one instruction to improve basic skills and obtain high school credentials.
ESL and SSL provide instruction for improvement in the English-language or the Spanish-language. Courses include writing, reading and listening skills.
Educational Scholarships – Ascension to skills offers candidates interested in pursuing continuing education certifications at any Houston Community College (HCC) campus, full scholarships including the cost of tuition, books, uniforms and other school fees.
