Who We Are
The Gulf Coast Community Services Association, Inc. (GCCSA, Inc.) is a non-profit organization that serves the most vulnerable populations of Harris County. We strengthen the educational, social and economic well-being of Houstonians as they transition from varying stages of poverty to financial confidence. Founded in 1965, GCCSA, Inc. provides diverse programs designed to eliminate the inhibitive conditions of the under-resourced populations of Harris County.
Through programs such as Head Start/Early Head Start, Rent and Electricity Assistance, Food Pantry, Adult Literacy and Education, and Vocational Training and Education Scholarships, GCCSA is able to assist families in earning a living wage, individuals in the advancement of their education, and communities in gaining economic security.
To earn the confidence of the citizens of Houston and Harris County so that GCCSA becomes the exemplary model for social services in the community.
As Harris County’s Community Action Agency, Gulf Coast Community Services Association, Inc. (GCCSA, Inc.) engages partners and forges strategic alliances to educate, equip and empower individuals and families in their pursuit of economic independence.
Why We Exist
GCCSA’s diverse programs are designed to eliminate the inhibitive conditions of the underserved populations of Harris County by assisting:
- families in earning a living wage
- individuals in the advancement of their education
- communities in gaining economic security
GCCSA provides programs and services that benefit the Houston-Metropolitan area, giving opportunities to grow financially, economically and socially. Our services to the community include:
Head Start & Early Head Start (Free, High Quality Early Childhood Education)
Rent and Electricity Assistance, if experiencing financial hardship(s)
Curbside Food Pantry
Adult Literacy and Education
Vocational Training and Education Scholarships
Case Management and Employment Support Services
