HOUSTON, TX (May 1, 2018) – The Gulf Coast Community Services Association, Inc. (GCCSA) is celebrating Community Action Month, dedicated to recognizing the success of the national Community Action Network that strives to provide pathways to prosperity to children and families across the country. America’s Community Action Agencies connect millions to greater opportunity, transforming their lives and making our communities – our nation – stronger.
GCCSA aims to engage our neighbors, shifting challenges to opportunities, and serve as the voice of advocacy for impoverished families in Harris County. This month, GCCSA will be engaging in programs and events that showcase our innovative work in the Houston area.
“Community Action Month is the perfect time to highlight the innovative ways Community Action Agencies like GCCSA have been implementing to serve the individuals and families who aspire to thrive and build on their foundations,” stated Dr. Jonita Wallace Reynolds, CEO of GCCSA.
“This past year, our agency has served over 20,000 individuals in the Greater Houston area, empowering them to attain economic, educational and social lives of self-sustaining enrichment. Our work changes lives and strengthens our entire community.”
To celebrate our collective achievements and raise awareness in the Harris County community, GCCSA will host our 8th Annual Nutrition, Health & Wellness Expo on May 10, 2018. The Expo will be held at 9320 Kirby Drive, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and will feature the Houston Food Bank Mobile Pantry. Free health screenings, fresh food samples, recipes, raffles, and more will be available to this free event that is open to the public.
